Lung Dysfunctions
Lungs, Emotions & Their Role in Forehand Lameness
Lung dysfunction is a primary cause of forehand and thoracic lameness in horses and is often overlooked. Trauma—whether from severe impact, emotional distress, or prolonged smoke/fire exposure—locks the lung into spasm, restricting movement, circulation, and breath. These patterns create torsional pull through the thoracic cavity, preventing full release in the body.
As you move through each lobe of the lungs to locate and clear holding patterns, you learn to identify the lungs role in chronic dysfunction. Using direct palpation and energetic merging, you can release deep seated trauma and retore movement to the body. The key is not just treating symptoms but addressing the root—physical and emotional—so the lung can return to full function.
LUNG TREATMENT EXPANDED
I've found that if a horse has been deeply cleared and subsequent intense competition, riding or otherwise ensues; and if it has not gone in and settled deeply , THEN THESE TWO ACUPOINTS WILL COMPLETELY RESTORE FUNCTION.
These two points are a good choice before beginning a run, class, trail ride, etc., acupressure can enhance reserve capacity. They however do not clear deep issues like osteopathic skills can
Lung Acupoints
Lung- LU association point (8th rib always just caudal to scapula) with LU 1 which is at the peak of the pectoral major muscle.
Lu1 lung and Lung association point- affect and can reset the lung and their spasms and dysfunctions run these two together.
